Happy Groundhog Day - revisited

According to our paper, none of the famous Canadian groundhogs saw there shadow yesterday.
That includes Shubenacadie Sam, Wiarton Willie, Manitoba Merv, and Balzac Billy. Therefore, this warm winter will give way to an early spring!
Also, this past January has the record of being the warmest in Ontario since all time.

Oh, if you don't know where all these "weather forecasters" live - ask Hugh!

Robert: Do you mean those poor little groundhogs that folks root out of their hole in the ground to see how the weather is.

I lived close to Shubenacadie Sam most of my life, he never told me anything I couldn't feel. Now Wiarton Willie is not that far away, and I don't even keep track of it anymore.

I know it was a nice day for tractor wrenching yesterday in my unheated shop. Today with snowflurries in the air it's less pleasant and by Mon. Canadian Weather Service is forcasting -9 C. Who knows after that. If those oil barrons keep cranking the prices, old folks like me will either have to hibernate with the groundhogs, skunks and bears or fly south with the birds.

Hugh
I often wondered where your farm was in Nova Scotia, now I know. I lived in "The Valley" up Middleton way for 9 great years.
Yep, yesterday was a large day (as they say in Newfoundland)(or a good day for the cow to calf) up here in this valley, but today was quite different. I drove up to Renfrew to the CIH dealer to get parts, they were having a Forestry Demonstration day, woodsplitters, winches, one man cutting and splitting machines etc. It snowed, wet and heavy, all afternoon, while it was raining in Ottawa! Just lovely, *** lovely weather!
D**n oil barons anyhow, gas prices are about .90/litre up here, don't know about heating oil, I haven't bought any this season. Insurance company told me I had to change my tank (too old)so I am gonna run it dry first! D**n insurance companies! Been heating a lot with wood, keeps you warm several ways - once when you cut it, twice when you split it, thrice when you haul it in, fourth when you sit by it, fifth when you haul the ashes out!
Ok, I think I got it outta my system now!!

I knew you would know where Shubenacadie was for sure!

The sun did shine briefly here yesterday, so I guess that means we will have six more weeks of winter. If the sun hadn't shone, it would be just six weeks until spring.
