Where can one find the original type steel backed, split bushings for the center pivot pin of a Super C's wide front axle. Original part nunbers are 353 252 R1, 353 253 R1 and 353 254 R1. I have found bronze bushings that will work but bet the original type would be much better.

I needed the same bushings for my H...I went to the IH dealer and they ordered them in, they were $30 each....but worth it!

Put the bronze ones in you arent going to do that much work just show it and they will last forever.

Gene, after finding that Case-IH no longer supplies them and that the part number doesn't cross reference at the bearing supply hoouse, I've about concluded like you, that the bronze bushings will last a long time. I just thought that if the original type were available somewhere, I'd use them partly 'caue they'd be easier to install.

Do you per chance know who the guy is at Belle Plaine that often has Farmall parts on ebay? I'm looking for a 9 350 DX wheel for the front end of my Super C. He's only about half as far from Cedar Falls as you are, but while it's on the table, do you happen to have one?

A standard size brass bushing machined to size would give satisfactory service if it is greased regularly [probably unlikely]. Can't remember if there is a grease fitting on the axle pivot or not, but one could be put in easily if the axle is apart.

I would try the IH dealer first. If it is like with our W6, they won't carry them anymore. What our dealer did is they went through a bin of leftover bushings, and came up with a split bushing that was close. We had the outside turned on a lathe by a machine shop to make it fit. The bushing is steel backed with a bronze inner surface.

Your first, and best, possibility is your friendly neighborhood CaseIH dealer.

After that, you could search tractor salvage yards for used bushings in good condition (highly unlikely).

Next, try a bearing shop.

Finally, if you're really desperate, and you have the measurements, you could have them custom machined.
