My old uncle called and asked me if I wanted his old 4 row Lister and 2 bottom plow along with an 11’ disc. I’m sure the Lister hasn’t been used for awhile but for his sake I’d like to get this cleaned up and use if for sweet corn this spring. I assume my Farmall M can use this equipment. Any pointers on reconditioning this old equipment.

He also said he wanted to have a beer, my aunt won’t buy it for him and he probable just wants to get out and smell the country… I guess that’s worth a Lister, disc and plow….he knows I’ll plant an acre or two of sweet corn with all he can eat.

I haven’t seen it but he said it was in all in good condition when it was parked 10 years ago (His words are trustworthy). He is blind now so we are going to go out and look at them before loading it, any specifics I should look at. Thanks in advance.

I don't know. Enjoy a beer with him and have a look see. Friendships are worth more than iron anyway. As for the stuff just see what's there and what you might do with it. I'd check into just using 2 rows of the lister, half as much expense and work getting it going and you would have spare parts. The 11 ft disk is gonna be plenty big but if you don't try to runn it too deep the M will pull it fine.

Thanks for the pointer, I’ll do that with the lister. I really enjoy getting him out,and your right, friendship is all this is about. A while back, I asked if he wanted to drive around but he couldn't make it out, so I told him I’d bring that beer over(my dad told me take one over to him) and he said “Ohhh… I would like that but we need to do it when your aunts out of the house, like on Sunday when she at church”

Cracked me up because he not really a drinker, just an 85 year old husker farm kid. I’m still laughing at that.

fisherman;

We pulled 3-14"s,a 4 row JD lister and an 11 ft. tandem disk with an early Super M. Not all at once tho. Usually no problems unless we fell asleep and drove into an alkali hole.
