The news this morning is that 72 miners are safe. Five are still to be brought up to the surface. It appears everything has indeed worked out well in Estherhazy Saskatchewan. The fire was controlled and rescue teams have got all but 5 to the top, those 5 may be out by now. Bless miners everywhere and pray for their safety and remember our friends in West Virginia in your prayers....Mike in Exeter Ontario

That is great news. I wonder; are Canadian mining laws responsible for the "safe haven areas", that proved to be so successful in this case? Or is it the mining companies themselves that have taken the lead? Either way, we really need to catch up down here.

Esterhazy is only about 75 miles from me, I've been there several times, but never close to a mine (potash).
