H pulley differences

When I bought my '41H, it didn't have the belt pulley gearbox and drum, it only had a cover plate. I was finally able to get my hands on the gearbox - so all I need now is the actual pulley.

However, when I look in my trusty parts catalog, I find two belt pulley attachments. Its not clear what the differences are (although the earlier unit's graphic in the catalog 'looks' more like the stock pulley).

So, can anyone educate me as to what the differences are so that if I come across a pulley I know it'll fit.

According to my parts CD, the two belt pulley attachments for the H would be interchangeable. That is either would work on most any H. The newer one likely has some upgrades. As to the pulley itself, any pulley for the H or the M will mount on the flange of either one. Just find one that is the right size to run whatever equipment you are going to use. If just for show, any will do.

I believe any IH belt pully from the letter series larger than a C and the earlier number series will bolt on - they all have the same bolt pattern. What differs is the size and material. The newer ones are steel. The size varies depending on the RPM's of the tractor they were made for. I currently have the pully off my M on my H and what I believe is the pully from a W9 on my M. The one intended for an H is the smallest of the bunch.
