Farmall H lift-All use long?

On a Farmall H when using a #31 Power Loader, the Lift-All dipstick and filler cap are removed and a return line (from both hydraulic cylinders) is attached). The Lift-All is filled all of the way up with oil as well as the non pressure side of both hydraulic cylinders. When the Lift-All control rod is pulled, the loader rises, at the same time, oil from the non pressure side of the loader hydraulic cylinders is forced back into the Lift-All to provide more oil to be used to raise the loader even more. My question is, when the loader is removed from the Farmall H and now a person wants to use a remote cylinder for something light like a mower. Does the Lift-All have to be drained back down to "Full" on the dipstick to prevent oil from leaking out of the breather cap? Or would the remote cylinder have to be hooked up (2 hoses) the sameway as the power loader cylinders? Would something light such as a mower have enough weight to force oil from its non pressure side back into the Lift-All filler pipe? Thanks.

John, You should not have a problem. I have taken the loader off my H and put the cultivater on and hve not had any problems. The loader cylinders will be full of oil, so have some caps and plugs ready for the hoses and the Liftall so as not to lose any oil. Hope this helps.

That is correct. In fact, the use of the dipstick is over-rated, most of the time you will be better off to ignore the dipstick. If the loader or other implement will not lift high enough, add more oil to the system. If you add too much oil, the excess will come out of the fill cap, which does tend to make a mess, but nothing you can't clean up.
