Well, I disked with the 1066 today for 6 hours and didn't have a lick of problem. I was pulling the pea wadden out of it with a 14 ft disk in sod going 3.5 to 4 inches deep. Kind of dry here in OKla. but a little moisture under the grass cover. On the 6 mi. trip back home ran it in 3rd high and that is about as fast as I want to go. When I put her in the shed and walked around behind to close the door, noticed hyd./rearend oil running down the back, onto hitch bracket and puddle on floor. It wasn't doing that 30 minutes before when I left field. Looks like it is coming from round tube with hex nut on end on left side of remote valve body under seat(sticking out back of tractor). I assume this is pressure relief mechanism on back of valve body. I have not torn apart but I suspect a bad o-ring behing hex nut. Is this a logical assumption. What else could it be? I noticed oil dripping from the hex nut on bottom side. All in all a good day for the virgin voyage but a little frustrated.

The hyd. valve spool o rings are leaking. To repair, unhook the lever links under the front of the seat. Then with the proper sized socket,(large) unscrew the hex headed tube that you referred to. The whole valve spool will now withdraw out the back with the tube. 2 o rings are in the valve spool body that the tube unscrewed from. One in front and one in back. peel them out and replace. There is a third o ring that is quite small and is generally the culprit for the leak. It is in the valve spool that you removed. Hold the tube in a vise and with a pipe wrench and with the socket you used to remove the assembly, unscrew the hex head from the tube. There is then a screwdriver slot visible. Unscrew that being careful because it controls the spring tension of the detent balls. Remove the screw, spring retainer, spring and related parts. Don't lose the detent balls. As you remove these related parts, you will find a small (3/4" long) pin with a tiny o ring on it. This actuating pin and o ring is available as an assembly only, but its not expensive. This tiny o ring is usually responsible for the leak 90% of the time.
