I had to rebiuld the head on my 560 and just got it back together but I've got oil coming out of the top of the filter housing. I've got the bolt good and tight but it's coming out anyways. I took the guts out of the filter housing and cleaned everything up so I was kinda wondering if I possibly got something back together wrong or do I just need to replace the brass washer on top? I've got the thing assembled as follows from top down 1)bolt head 2)brass washer 3)filter housing 4)spring 5)large flat washer 6)o-ring 7) filter. Does this sound right? Did I miss something. Thanks for any help. Kevin K.

All replies are pertinent. If the holddown bolt is slightly too long, you might use two copper washers with permatex #2 on all surfaces. Copper washers are available at most auto supply stores.

We had a couple of 460s that got to doing that so we just converted them to a spin on type filter. You can get the conversion kit from a CIH dealer.

OK, so it sounds like I"ve put it back together properly and just have a sealing problem. That"s the big thing I wanted to know. I"ll look at the seal and possibly make a couple of new ones. Thanks for the help.

Iagary is correct copper and brass are annealed by quenching in water.

Heat the washer real hot and let it cool slow.
This will soften the washer and it will seal better.

No disrespect, but non-ferrous metals (for the most part) are annealed by quenching, not cooling slowly.
Checking the filter bolt for length in the housing to be sure it is not bottoming on the hole, or crud, or ?, is a good cheap idea.
Using a hand magnifier on the filter housing, and underside of the bolt head to see if there are scratches is next. Then use a thicker copper washer, with more compliance.
