Farmall 100 horizontal exhaust

I have a Farmall 100 that I want to convert to a turn-down horizontal exhaust, like what an orchard style tractor would have. Does anyone know if there is a turn-down elbow fitting that will work with the stock exhaust manifold? I know Ford tractors, such as an NAA, have an optional elbow that bolts right on to change the direction... Any advice would be appreciated, this is my first Farmall and I am not knowledgable at all in the Red.
Thanks in advance!

Make sure the pipe you will have bent is mandrel bent to ensure smooth exhaust flow. Because regular bending causes wrinkles and that is bad for exhaust flow.

Just go to a muffler shop and have them bend a 180 piece of tibing to mount the muffler. Take a piece of 1 1/2 pipe and the muffler so they can make it fit have been using this set up for years as like you say trees have branches and you will even like the sound. You mite want a bracket on the outlet pipe of the muffler.

I've got the low clearance tree problem,so I got a 1 1/2' [I think] elbow at the auto parts
store, put that on the pipe sticking out of the manifold, pointed toward the front, and put the muffler on that.

The exhaust pipe (that the muffler clamps to) on the A, 100, 130 and 140 is just a piece of 1 1/2 inch black pipe screwed into threads in the manifold. If it is not rusted tight, or been welded (as some are), you can just unscrew the exhaust pipe and replace it with a 1 1/2 inch black iron steel pipe nipple that is threaded on both ends. Then screw on elbows, etc to send the exhaust whereever you want. If the one you have is not welded to the manifold, some PB Blaster penetrant and time will probably loosen it so you can unscrew it. It will likely take a good sized pipe wrench.

I do not under stand why you would want a horizontal exhaust, I will take the upright exhaust every day and I have had both.

Jim: While I agree with you for the most part. Farming and trees never did mix. However the tree roots were a far greater risk for damage on ground working equipment than limbs were to an exhaust system.

I can see the problem these guys are having using a belly mower around ornimental trees. It's one item I don't like with my Super A and Woods mower. However, even if you change the SA exhaust the tractor is still quite high. I'm thinking an 8N or a small Fergie would make a better lawn mowing tractor. At least my head and shoulders would not bear the asualt of those tree limbs.

Remember Jim, on some items, "Ford did have a better idea."

Evidently you don't have any trees on your property! An upright exhaust is a problem just waiting to happen if you have any kind of low clearance areas. i bought a new JD last spring and that stupid upright exhaust had to before I'd take delivery.

If clearnece is an issue then you can get a tobacco muffler they are a lot smaller than the regular type. I think they look pretty good on my A. Andrew
