Hey guys, my dad has a 1456 that we bought in Iowa with a narrow front and 560 type fenders which seemed to be original equipment. This was a little strange we thought but in checking the serial number its first numbers are 265--- and all of the data I can find says that these were built until 1971 with a starting production no. of 141----. The funny thing is at the end of the serial # is 1972*. Anybody have any information on any of these being built in 72 or ending production #s for the years??? Thanks

thank you for the info. THis tractor when we found it in IA had nf, clamshell fenders, no cab, and swinging adjustable drawbar. Kind of a unique unit I thought. Just wondered if you had seen any like this with original equipment. Thanks

The 1972* are the last four digits of your tractor's serial number and not its manufacturing date. The serial numbers are the five digits just to the left of the *. According to the numbers posted by IaGary, the only serial number that could end in the numbers 1 9 7 2 would be #11972. A "1970" model. The 265---and some letters, I believe, are some kind of code. No tractors prior to 1970 have the code only the five digit (or less) serial number. If the last four digits on my 1456 ( #12028*) were its year of manufacture, it has not been built yet !

Here is what the book I have says.

1969 starting # 10001
1970 starting # 10405
1971 starting # 14149

Nothing for 1972 and no ending number for 1971.

Hope this helps.
