I found out about my W-6,s hydro pbm,
a guy had capped it off where the hoses go back around, and in back of the seat,Also, I try to be gentle on the clutch when im going into fifth
as to not drag the RPM,s down too much when Im getting it going from stop,
These W-6,s go like stink when in 5th gear,
I really have to watch the throttle as to not get going to fast,& run Into a dip in road, or a bump,& it bounces you pretty good.
kirk C,

Hi guys, How many W-6 were made? I"m looking to buy a W-6 or a W-4 but it seems to be rather hard to find one in good shape with a modest price. Is there anything I should look at or for when looking at a W series? I appreciate all your help, Thanks.
Charles

Kirk,

If you use your W-6 mostly for road driving or parade driving, you might want to install a foot accelerator as on the I-6. You can look in the parts book to see how the linkage is made and then make one without too much trouble. This will aid your shifting and variable speed driving. Be careful.

Common practice is to shift from fourth to fifth on the fly. Gentile lever pressure, and a little grind noise is normal. They do not like to go from a stop in 5. Being gentle on the clutch in this case is not slipping it.
My opinion from 50 years of driving letter and number IH/Farmalls without replacing or repairing any clutch or gear box (of ours). Have fun safely,
JimN

Hi Jim,
I just got you letter, your pretty much right on with this shifting bit,
Ive tried to be gentle on it from stop to fifth, but it,s kinda hard to do,I never tried to do it from 4th to 5th direct, but I feel like trying it soon, and see if it will work ok,
thanks alot jim, kirk conway

With a little double clutchin and and minimal grinding, going from 4th to 5th works great. I drive my 6 on the road alot from farm to farm. Thinkin I should rig up a foot throttle, would come in handy. No parts book yet, anyone have a copy that they could scan the page and post it?
