I got to thinking about this and could not remember who gave the guy on ebay all the trouble from here. Ebay selling is something that really gets my blood flowing and my blood pressure up when I see guys doing things that are against most of our morels just to make money. I love to sell on ebay because it gets your item out to thousands if not millions of people. But I want to be as honest as possible and I guess thats why I have a 100% rating still. When I buy a mag from someone or somewhere even if it has spark I throw away everything and start over with all new tune up parts so if something goes wrong I know I can warranty it and I do not have to go through all this wondering if it was a good used part or one of my new parts. I do however use good used coils but I always tell the individual that I am and give them the chance to PIC new or used. Well, I guess what I am getting to here is why cant I sell a business card or something on ebay for the cost of a stamp if its bought. Show PICS of my beautiful mags and tell them that I rebuild also and if they win my auction for lets say . 49 cents or something that I will send an email to them to get info On my mags and my parts and rebuilding services. Is this legal ??? What do you guys think? THANKS JON

Jon.
If all you want is a information web site.
That shows examples of your products, Prices and contact info. I could make one of those for you pretty quick.
No charge, just email what you want on it and I will make it up for you.
Then I can find some places that can host your site. Some are free but they have those stupid pop up ads that show over what you want in the best spots of the site.
Others you can get for like $5 a month that does not have pop up ads.

If you want a site thats like a store where people can order off the site. You will have to pay some one to do that. Thats way out side my skill level.

I had, and still am, considering using eBay as a loss-leader, just as Walmart does with gasoline. I would sell high demand items at or below cost occasionally just to direct traffic to my website. (Don't have one yet)

It actally would be very similar to what I did with Bob's diagrams when I put them up on eBay - it directed them to his website.

You might consider selling parts for mags, for instance, occasionally at bargain prices to draw traffic.

The site belongs to Ebay and Ebay makes the rules. If they allow it then it's legal. Just think of all the ways various businesses around the world advertise to sell their product. Your technique would just be just another way to advertise. Some people would like to think business values and moral values are the same. However, business exists to make money while moral values exists for the continuation of a peaceful society. Not necessarily the same thing.

Dear MagMan,
Production and maintenance of a website is modest in cost, and easy to do. There are service providers in every area of the country willing to assist in the process and host the address for you. A call to the popular internet providers in your area will begin the process. Shop for the things that they will provide.
1) what do you want the site to look like?
Browse some sites and bookmark the ones you would be interested in mimicing.
2) list, in a Word Document, the Items you would like to place on the page.
3) use digital photos to be used.
4) if you need links to other sites, list their URLs
5) Be sure to discuss and write out the terms of the agreement, and how to get out of it when changing times causes decisions to be made.

On another direction, why not discuss your operation with YTMAG. There does not appear to be any Mag Repair offered, just parts. Many people beileve Mags are Majic and would love to deal with you.

MagMan, Thats not cheating the system. Thats called using the system. They get plenty of commisions when I sell or buy on ebay. Try it. what do you have to lose. Remember the piece of toast for big bucks. How about listing for 1 cent and a good discription of what you are trying to do. If ebay doesn"t like what you are doing, they will let you know or cancel your auction. You"ve got nothing to lose by trying and maybe alot to gain. Gene

There are several people who do similar things on ebay. To save on ebay fees many people sell a $25 item for .99 cents with $25 or $30 of shipping charges. It saves them about 75% off their ebay fees.

I think your idea would work. Not sure how ethical it is though. I don't remember how the listing fees on ebay work, but you could always list your Mag at the real price and maybe sell some of them.

what are you trying to do Jon, Cheat the system? That don't sound "honest" to me. Just keep selling your mags and inculde advertisment with eack shipment. If your work is good word will spread. On the wiring diagram thing. I thought the man was printing diagrams he had found on the web, While maybe not entirly ethical he had spent his own time and money to print the diagrams he was selling.

No Cowman, What I was thinking is that people are afraid to use ebay becuase of the scams and dirty sellers. So I figured maybe it would put certain peoples mind at ease to be able to do bussiness with someone with references from like here. But not have to use the ebay system thats why I was saying of selling like an email or bussiness card just trying to get my name out to more people. Eventually I would like to get my own web site but I dont know how to go about it right at this point and will have to get better and back to work for cash to do it I guess. JON

lots of tractor clubs have websites. How about a web search to find contact info and send business card directly to club to be passed out at meeting?
