the left hand rear axle moves around alot on my 1486, causing hytran to leak past the seal. I think the inside bearing(s) are shot. is that a big project? what is involved? do I have to take the cab off??

Yep, you got a bearing out. Not too bad a job, don"t need to remove the cab. You might need a press to remove and reinstall the bearings, though.

That sounds fun. Now I have to find a cherry picker to get that axle housing off and the PTO out....

Thanks

Ya don't have to pull the PTO ya got to take the brake apart and pull the bull pinion and it realy helps to pull the tire and wheel if ya don't have the I H splitting stand . But just pull the tire and wheel and also get a book it explains it and shows ya just how to hook the thing up so it comes off level. Watch your toes it's heavy.

I have a IT service manual, Just glanced at it and thought I had to remove the PTO. Got the tractor in position and have the wheel slid out to the end of the axle. Will have to wait till the weekend to get some more man power to pull it off! Thanks for the info
