My M has been running rough, found out two of the plugs were no good. So I replaced them and it ran good. Went to roll some grain on Saturday and I had to choke the heck out of it and it ran rough while rolling feed. I pulled the carb on Saturday and cleaned it good, didn't have a rebuild kit. All the holes are open, there wasn't any crude inside. I have the original bowl on it yet plus an inline filter. I have good flow from the tank to carb. I still need to choke it almost all the way and it will barely start. Will blow black smoke, but seems to even out now and runs good. But, I can shut it off and have to choke it again to start and it starts the same way.

Any help appreciated.

I had a nearly identical problem with my C. One day I poured water over the intake and it sucked some into the motor. I tightened two intake manifold nuts and it purred like a kitten. Hope it works for you also.

In line fuel filter cause problems on gravity feed fuel systems. In line filters are made for fuel systems with a fuel pump and your tractor doesn't have a fuel pump. I'd throw it away and see if that helps, doesn't take much to clog them to the point that they don't work on a tractor and cause you not to get enough fuel to the carb.

Hi guys , You could try getting a glass inline filter like they used to use on motorcycles . They are designed for gravity feed systems and come in different line sizes from 3/16" up to I think 3/8" . I've got one and had the same one on my Harley for 21 years . Just screw it apart and change the filter and o-rings when it gets dirty . Since you can see thru it you'll know when that is . They won't do anything for water though . ...Randy
