Hello, i have a leaking rear PTO on my 1948 H & i took off the 2 bolts & removed the seal housing.I bought a new seal to install & the old seal is much different looking.I read in the archives that the new style seal is much better. Now,do i just pound out the old seal out of the housing & slide the new, much slimmer one in? Should there be a dust seal on the end? Thanks john

Just be sure to position the seal so it misses any grove that may be worn into the PTO shaft.
With the narrower seal you have a little room to press it in to miss the grove.

I have a 43 "H" Last spring I replaced the seal your talking about. Ordered on from case/ih dealer found out it's just a CR brand seal same as I could have got in town. I don't remember the number. JUst install and your should be fine

Just use the seal that you have in place of the old one. You can put a second new seal in there if you wish but it shouldn't be necessary.
