300u oil pressure

My 300u sat a couple weeks and I started it up today. In the past, the oil pressure jumped to 75 lbs and stayed there. Today, it did not move off 0.
Our temperature today is about 5 degrees above, and over the past 2 weeks our temperature has been in the 5-30 degree above range.
Previously I figured the gauge was goofy when it jumped to 75 lbs, and I am inclined to think it is the gauge now also. I did run the tractor for 10 mins or so today and stayed near it, but the engine made no unusual sounds or noise.
Since I must work on the tractor outside, I am thinking or going ahead and using the tractor this way for throwing snow and check the gauge out in spring. What do you experienced fellows think?

Get a knowing working gauge and line and hook it directly to the engine block where the existing line hooks up. Check, to see if you have pressure, if you do, breathe a big sigh of relief you probably haven’t ruined the engine. :>)

If you have no oil pressure, ah, I don’t really want to go there. :>(

Jimer: Shut it down, don't start it again until get that guage operating. You may already have done damage if the guage is telling the truth. 10 min. is a long time for an engine to run with no oil presure. I suspect you either have a faulty guage or the steel line to the guage is damaged or plugged. If the guage were accurate, your engine would be seized in less than 10 min. running, even at idle.

Do you like to gamble? You just did.

Water/ice in the crankcase or oil pressure gauge line?

I agree with the others: Fix the gauge first.

I wouldn't run it without an accurate working oil pressure gauge.

75 psi is the pressure these engines are supposed to run. That is where the relief valve opens. Get an accurate gauge!

Bad gauge or plugged tubing leading to the gauge. If you want to make sure, unscrew the filter canister slightly, start engine and you should get a large spewing of oil,if no oil, there is no pressure.

I would put a new gauge on it before running the
tractor. Hal
