Thanks for all the warm welcomes ya'll gave me. Tells me again that the people are at least half the fun in this hobby!

I was up in the hills logging yesterday, so I didn't have a chance to reply to most of the posts. At least the weather was fairly nice! (About the freezing point)

It occurred to me that I didn't really mention anything about myself. I live near Barrhead, Alberta, Canada, on a small farm. I got into tractor collecting and restoration about a year ago, at the age of 15. Started with Deere, but am diversifying into Ferguson, Case, and soon, IH. I did work experience at a local Case-IH dealership last spring, and earned a healthy respect for International.

Oh yes, a question: What is the parts availibility for the old IH's? Can I still get most parts through a Case-IH dealership?

Again, thank you!

Specter

P.S. To Robert: Glad to hear from another Albertan. I've been up in the Peace Country a time or two, but I don't think as far as Manning. Just back in November, I was up in Grande Prairie to pick up a truck from one of my uncles. Beautiful country.
And yes, I am working on finding a red one! :-) I have my eyes open for a good model M or a W-series. Plenty of jobs for a smooth, strong running tractor around here!

Hi Specter
You shouldn't have any problem finding an M and probably more luck finding a W series out there. I grew up with a WD9 and a WD6, we also had an A for just choring around. I don't remember my father ever getting on it, he didn't consider it a real tractor. Us kids sure enjoyed it, though. So..... ..now I have 3 Super A Farmalls, plus others.

Robert

Welcome aboard the board.
Parts for the old Farmalls are easier to come by than you could hope. If you didn't mind a few of the larger castings being used (perfectly servicable from any reputable salvage yard) it wouldn't be hard to build one from scratch.
Now that'll get the Restoration Police's knickers in a twist.

You can get parts from a number of sources. Your local dealer would have parts for all IH tractors. For most of them there reall easy to get. This site has quite a few parts also. Andrew
