This weekend since Friday night after I read all the posts on this board and I shut down the computer when I come back again the ones that I've read before have not changed color so I have to read them again if I didn't pay attention to the header in the first place . They change during the current session but change back to original if I shut the computer off . My cookies are unblocked so is it the site ? I know that there where some changes made a few weeks ago but this didn't start happening till this week . Thanks ..Randy

BTW I use Netscape on W98

Randy, my computer does that every once in awhile, no idea why. It does get a bit annoying reading a post and half way through it, you realize you"ve allready read it. We have AOL, 9.0 or whatever the new version is.

I haven"t seen you on here in a coon"s age. You guys still busy with dirt work up there in NE Iowa? Thought ya"ll still had some snow up there.

Hi Rich , Yup , I moved to the red side ;) How you been ? I'm still working on the junk I picked up all summer . Most of it works pretty good now so I'm concentrating on this old beat up M I got in Sept. . It runs good but nothing else on it works but the PTO which is really all I need to work on it but if it's broke - Fix it ! . Did you decide on what you're going to plant this year ? Or you just going to keep it in hay ? What was it you were planning on getting last fall ? Planter or drill or something like that ? Did you get it ? I got a 565 4 - 16 Oliver plow last fall . It still needs some adjusting but it's in good condition . I finally got the 3ph on the Oliver fixed so it works great now . I gotta go wifes screeching at me . ...Randy

I"m doing pretty good, I"m still alive. I have most of my stuff working good too, but still have things to tweak. I did buy a 14 foot disk for my Oliver (I know it isn"t red everybody, but it"s the right shade of green) and can still get a 4 bottom plow whenever I want it. I decided to stay with hay this year, need to get the fertilizer on this spring. I"m think of getting a NH 256 rake, fixing up my NH 56 rake and trying to make a couple bucks. That M should work great for your hay, my H sure is handy.

More likely it's the settings on your box.
I don't use netscape, so I can't say what, but I've got the History in my Firefox set at one day (IE works this way, too) so that the links return to the unlooked at color after a day. If I set it at zero days they turn back right away. Upside is, if somebady else looks at this box they don't see where I've been.
I've loaded FF on the PCs at work for that same reason. The company's IE won't let us access Internet Options and even if you laboriously delete each item from History there's no way to clear the drop down on the Address Bar.
Not that I'd go anywhere bad, but they even think ytmag is a no-no.

You must work for mother deerest ! My B-I-L has to deal with the same thing . At my place of employment a pencil is a new invention ! You brought up some good places to look so I did but everything looks right . It's only me and my wife that use this computer and she uses IE so setting's haven't been changed . It only started doing it this weekend that's why I wondered if it was the site ? Thanks ...Randy

It is normal on mine (still shows previously looked at entries) Win XP with service packs/Netscape.
I'D like all that I open to be darkened so I could tell when other responses are added without checking dates. Just the entry I open darkens, even when expanded.

Hi Jim , That's what I thinking too! Then reading these would take much less time . I don't like using email alerts since most weeks I don't even get on the computer till the weekend and then only if I have nothing better to do like this weekend . To expand on that idea wouldn't it be great if the responses showed up as time posted instead of anywhere the poster wants to click on . What I mean is if a thread get's , say 25 responses , then if they expanded in chronilogical order I think it may be much easier to keep track of who is responding to who . Clear as mud ? Thanks ...Randy

netscape is a memory eater. I would suggest you change to Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer..

Sooo , That explains it ! Why my memory is so short . What were we talking about ? Oh yeah , memory . I have a 5 or 6 ( I don't remember ) year old computer with a 4 gig hard drive that we're running on 82 MB of space left . Can't figure out what's taking up all the room . I've gone through all the files I can find and removed everything I'm comfortable removing but it doesn't help . Got rid of all the pictures , all the read email's , all the unused programs , I just need to get a new computer I guess . I have IE on this computer but I hate it . I just checked out the website for Firefox and I don't think this computer has enough room left to download it , but it looks good . Thanks ...Randy

It may be bullet biting time. My computer, similar in usage to yours, with no added programs except a spreadsheet, has a 40 GB hard drive with 28 free. Windows itself likely occupies most of the space. I had a couple of Windows 95 machines, hard drives were full on both -- very slooow, this one fixed the problem, but it's already out of date. You can't do much with 4GB any more. IE works fine for me. I read this board every day, and don't pay much attention to added posts on the threads I've already read, unless it's a thread I'm really interested in. I don't know where my history is set, the colors do disappear after a few days. Also, if you have XP (not likely if you only have 4 GB), you can reset the computer to an earlier date and get rid of the oddball problems.

Hi CNKS , My history killer is set at 9 days . But this happened from Friday till this afternoon . I shut it down after I started this thread and when I came back it was back to normal . The colors stayed on the ones I read . I dunno !?!? But I DO really need a new computer . As a matter of fact I have one that was given to me downstairs but I can't get it to start past the first screen even in safe mode or anything . It's got XP Professional on it as an OS . The problem with that as I understand it is that professional is supposed to be self healing so it doesn't have or come with a boot disc or the ability to re-format the hard drive unless it's running , which I can't get it to do . What a circle jerk . ...Randy
