I learned on another board that someone here is claiming this tractor is theirs. Unless you are know the current owner and can prove it, this is not so.

This tractor was purchased new by my dad in 1969 and sold at our farm auction in April of 82.

JD -- I read your posts on RPM, although not very often as I seldom read the coffee shop forum. You can correct me, but I think what happened is that the person(s) who named you John Deere are playing games. If the print under the picture is yours, then someone swiped the photo and added the John Deere, or changed your wording, whatever. Anyway, having read many of your posts on RPM, I know you have better sense than the impression you are leaving with many of the people responding in this thread. Too late to do much now.

I'm confused. Whats the problem? Who said anyone else was claiming it. And maybe they do own it.

Who said there was a problem? I am asking if anyone has claimed they bought this tractor new is all. If they did, it is not true. Period. I don't care if they own it or not.

Hmmmmm. All worked up. Overly touchy about obvious questions. Yep! Classic signs of a problem. Most people don't have to wait for the other person to say: "I have a problem".

You sold the tractor 24 years ago - does it matter who owns it? Jeesh.

You are missing the point also. I am asking if anyone claimed they bought this tractor new.

That isn't what you said in your original post - in your original post you specifically said that someone was "claiming this tractor is theirs" and that "Unless you are know the current owner and can prove it" - you said NOT A THING about someone claiming to have bought it new - you only said about CURRENT ownership.

Having wasted all my time explaining that you not only can't say what you mean, but it's irrelevant anyways as that tractor has been OFF YOUR FARM for 20+, I'm done with this post.

Reply if you feel the need to, but I won't be reading.

Did you read the comments -- some are nearly 4 years old -- I assume that JD does not stand for John Deere, since you have been on the RPM board for several years -- so your imposter has been also been around for several years.

Those are my photos but "JOHN DEERE HUMM" is not my name. Somehow, on this board, my initials, JD, have turned into "JOHN DEERE" and it was not my doing, something with this site.

I originally posted that photo in the tractor photos section in late 01 or early 02. My dad bought that tractor new in 69. Someone on another board was saying that someone here had posted that exact photo saying that was THEIR tractor they bought new. Sorry, it is not true, just trying to find out if anyone knew anything more about this person making a false claim.

Jere: Long time no see, welcome. Somehow I'm not following you. Is the tractor in photos, and posted as being owned by a JOHN DEERE HUMM. I'm on here most everyday, haven't looked very far into the tractor photos in a long time. However I did see someone make reference to a JOHN DEERE HUMM in discussions a while back. I didn't pay much attention at the time as I knew it wasn't you. These things often come me a couple of days later. If I remember it I'll drop you an e mail. I got the notice of your new e address a while back.

Hugh somehow my name has been changed on the photo posts to "John Deere Humm", not by my doings but somehow my handle on those photos was changed, I imagine if you type in "John Deere Humm" when looking for me in the archives my original posts under "JD Humm" will appear.

Jere: I didn't look for JOHN DEERE HUMM, only JD HUMM. Some of these folks may think this is quite trivial, however it is a very serious infringment of copyright. I don't blame you for being somewhat annoyed. Have you raised this with YT managment? I think they do have a responcibility to make sure this does not happen.

Most of these guys currently at YT probably don't even know who you are. When I came here about mid 1999 you were probably amoung the top ten posters as it applies to the number of posts. I don't know how long you were here before that, but suspect it was quite sometime. I expected to find several pages of JD HUMM in the archives, it's just not there. There are several pages of Hugh MacKay, and my thinking is I might just about now in 2006 have surpassed you in numbers of posts. To me this is just as serious as the guy that selling Bob M's wiring diagrams. You'll notice Jay was quick to champion that one.

It is amazing what small item may just tip one off to a much larger problem. I haven't as yet looked at the photos closely, but I do remember clearly what your tractor looked like in the early photo gallery. I can clearly remember the background of your place in Kansas. I will take time to look at these later today. Right now it is voting day here in Canada and I also have a couple of unrelated appointments. My appointments are quite important, not sure my vote is as in this constituency, it's a for gone conclusion who's going to win. However at 63, I've never taken my right to vote lightly, having never missed voting since I was old enough.
