I was reading the post by dave from MN, titled "favorite farm activites" an read mike soldans reply about calves. And I was wondering if anybody ever heard of triplet calves being born in central iowa? Well those were my uncle's calves so I was just wondering if anybody heard. It was in june, 2004. Levi

Levi When I was a kid back in the 50's we had a cow that had 7 sets of twins always 1 bull 1 heifer. The heifers were never fertile and the bulls were always small.

yeah, this cow that had the triplets has calved only three times when the triplets were born. The first year was one, the second year was two, and the third year was three. All the heifers were freemartens.

My late Step Dad who was my Dad's first cousin, had a Holstein once that had triplet bull calves. I have heard of two or three others in the area over the years.

There's a dairy farmer from my area (New York Mills, MN) that had triplet heifer calves born, if I remember right, on April 1st of '05 all in good health. I guess this wasn't the first time to have had triplets on this farm.

Hi Kevin, triplets are as rare as hen's teeth, I believe I remember that event, carried in the news here. I had a set of twins this spring , but it could take a hundred years or so to get triplets!...Mike in Exeter Ontario
