I see there are many IH parts suppliers for discontinued parts. All claim to have the best quality products. I"m ready to order a boat-load of parts, and don"t want to get hosed. In your OPINION, which of the dozens of parts suppliers do in fact deliver quality? I"m interested in best VALUE, not the cheapest price. Also, I"m not looking for responses from parts suppliers or folks who work for them. I"m interested in consumers" opinions, please. Thanks!

Before buying engine parts/kit be sure and ask if it is a quality kit made in the USA. Otherwise it will probably be made elsewhere and of poor quality. This happened to me so be sure and ask. Don't assume like I did.

It has been my experience that most of the time IH is the best. For parts not available, I have never gone wrong with NOS. New IH and NOS do cost the most too. Used and aftermarket ( if you can't see it for yourself), buyer beware!!

A lot of them are probably made by the same manufacturer, often overseas. One exception is OEM Tractor Parts, they make a lot of their own stuff -- they did have a quality control problem on things like battery boxes, etc, they had to be modified to fit. There was a long thread on the Red Power Magazine forum awhile back -- people from OEM read it, hopefully they have cleaned up their act. For some parts they are the only source. As to mechanical parts, such as engine parts, choose those from a major U.S. manufacturer.

I second your statement about OEM's quaility problems. I bought a pto sheild for my Super C last summer, took me half a day to get it to fit right. Should have returned it but would have taken more time than to just fix it myself.
