Were there any Farmall A Industrials made? I found one that has an AI on the serial tag but Guy Fay's book doesn't say anything about AI. Thanks for the help.

My friend and I own a Farmall A that has a tag on it that shows Model IA, serial # AA60956. From what I can tell it is a 1941.

Someone told me that it is an industrial A.

I do not know much about Farmalls, but would like to know why it has IA on the tag for the model. What is the difference between a model IA and a model A?

What color were the IA's painted?

Thanks,
Roger

It's not a Farmall it's an International. The tag should say IAA. International A's have a foot throttle and heavy duty front axle. Most would be painted whatever the buyer or industry (highway dept, etc), wanted. I suppose yellow was a common color. Some were red, just like the usual Farmall A's.

International A is on p 79 of Guy Fay's data book -- also pictures in his Letter Series book.

If I remember right that industrial front axle wasn't round in cross-section like the regular Farmall A axle.

There were no Farmall AI's. The AI was a International A. It had foot throttle and HD front axle. The Farmall A was available with the HD front axle as an option but was not available with a foot throttle. Lots of International A's (AI) have been misdecaled Farmall A over the years.

It"s what me and CNKS was talking about a few weeks ago. In the Guy Fay Farmall Letter Series on page 128 shows that there was given a part # for the AI sitckers. How many actually received them, I do not know. I have been still debating on what I am going to do on mine, but I want it to be correct. Oh I decided to go with safety yellow instead of hi way orange.
