Reading through some of the old post while doing a search for "shifter" gave me great info on what I need to do to fix my H getting stuck in gear.

Does anyone have a pic of what the end should be?

I am seeing some tapered and ball ends mentioned.

Randy

Randy: I don't have a photo, but looking at from the bottom end it should be a rectangle that nicely fits in one shift rail in the top of transmission. The rectangle should be very slightly rounded on the corners. I have done H, 300, 560 and a couple of offsets. I'm not certain they are all same size as it is 20 years since I've done one. I'm thinking the size is close to 5/16" by 9/16". The way to do this is build it up over size and grind until it fits nicely in the notch and shifts smoothly. It is not rocket science. You compare what you have now with the size of that notch in shift rail. It probably took 20 years to wear that way, thus if you don't get it exact, it will be very forgiving.

Push out the pin that holds the lever in, lift it out and you will see what it looks like. They wear down and need a little piece welded to the end of the ball every 60 years or so.
