Can anyone tell me what the short red hydraulic line is for? Can these ports just be plugged off? Should there be two hydraulic lines coming out of the "Christmas Tree"? My manuals are not entirely clear so any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my first try posting pictures please bear with me.

I'm sure that's a pressure line going to your remote valve -- I don't have the "christmas tree" (remote) valve, but I think that is the port I use to operate my 3-point with the main control lever. That remote gives 2-way hydraulics (pressure up and down), or at least it can be plumbed that way. You will have a line to the rear, and a return line to the reservoir. Someone with one of those can give you the exact plumbing -- my explanation is generic.

Make that TWO lines to the rear, or you're going to get a hydraulic oil bath when you go to lower whatever implement you're using... The return line back to the reservoir is actually the base of the christmas tree valve.

If you will read my post, you will notice I used the term "return line", meaning from the rear.

That short line is the supply (or "pump") line for the Christmas tree valve. By pulling back and latching the Liftall handle on the hydraulic reservoir, pump pressure is directed thru the short hose to the inlet port on the Christmas tree valve.

Ordinarily there will be two lines running from the backside the Christmas tree and running to hydraulic couplings at the rear of the tractor. Appears the lower one has been plugged off on yours.

Nice job on your 1st photo post!
