help identify international harvestar engine ucubm

I have come into a IH engine that was in a old rock quarry. it was part of a core drill. I need to know what the engine is so i can rebuild it. the numbers that are in the engine block is 355741R6 and on the plate it has ucubm-10422 it is a L head engine it is a gas 4 cylinder. Does anybody know the year and kind of engine? Thanks for any help.....

That engine is basically a Cub C-60 engine. Many of the Cub parts are the same as on your engine, but some parts may be different for the core drill application.

what years did they make a c-60 and is there anyway to find out the year. it has a magneto on it with j4166983 and a carb ih with the seriel on it as 251234-r94 . thanks

They made C-60 engines from 1947 through 1979, anyways. Maybe even later than that, if you count the 184 (the last of the center-drive Cub Lo-Boys)You can get a rough idea of the age from the date code on the casting. The serial number on the engine should be fairly close to the serial numbers on the tractors, so you can use the Cub serial numbers listed to the left to get a rough idea as well.

The J-4 is a Cub magneto. Most parts for it are available. An H-4 magneto will fit but do not do it! Has way too much spark advance when running. My literature which might give clue to year of engine is not here at this time. That carburetor part number was original on the older cubs beginning in 1947. My guess is that your engine was made before 1953. C-60 was made through 1978.
