My Dad and I over hauled a 460D with the cheepest set we could find one time, A few years later it cost me another over haul plus added cost for the damage it did to the block. So beware.

When I was looking for a kit for my A, I found this site to have the best price. The kit was made by Tisco. Look on the sidebar to the left and click on Engine Kits.

Buy a Clevite sleeve and piston kit and do it right. In the long run you will be glad you did.

I bought a cheap kit for a ford 8N and was disappointed. All poor quality and nothing was made in USA. Had to have the new valves ground by a machine shop to seat properly. Also had new rings ground by shop for proper end gap. This all cost me extra cash. I didn't save anything in the long run. Spend the extra money and be sure it is a quality kit made in the USA before ordering it.

I understand the need to keep the cost down, but you also need to understand that there are some very low priced engine kits on the market today, and some of these kits have so many defects and other quality problems that they are not even worth what you pay for them, in other words, they are nothing more than junk, and cannot even be used. I have no experience with kits available from this site, so I will not comment on those. NAPA has always had a reputation of being high quality. Only you can make the final decision.

The sleeve kits on this site are pretty well priced. I think you can order a bare min. package for like $370 to to bad. Andrew

I did that to a Farmall H once. It never ran right after that and it only had 70 PSI of compression with new rings and a complete head job. If it was me doing the work on my OWN tractor I would go ahead and do all four sleeves, pistons, rings. If it is for somebody else just replace the one and ship it out. Not really sure about the price or quality, but look around don't buy the first "kit" that you find. Sometimes IH dealers can offer complete rebuild kits for less than Napa/CarQuest. Just my .02 cents worth.

I have bought 2 different kits one for an M and one for an H both cheap aftermarket. From two different companys,They both exceded my exspectations. The last one was for my H I had the machine shop clean up the top of the pistons a little for me becuase of the casting slag but even the machine shop said the looked like good pistons plus the came with a very good manufacture ring set.I can get sleeves seperate and rings seperate but for the price I would do the sleve kit with pistons rings and sleeves or the in frame kit it will save money buy buying the kit over piece by piece. If you want a price email me. JON
