I went to knock out my clutch release bearing and it shattered. It looks to be a bushing made of slate. My parts manual says it should be a bearing, anybody came across this? Thanks Jeff

The most common replacement is a bearing type (NAPA has them) but you need a carrier from an A or B & some Cs had them. The graphite one is made with the carrier in it and dealers can get them and will cost more than a new bearing and used carrier. Eather will work great.

They were originally made of a black hard graphite resin. It was changed out in the mid 1950's to a regular ball bearing. My father had our Super C changed out in 1959 to the ball bearing and we have never had any trouble since. I now own this tractor and use it in parades.

Your local Case/ IH dealer may have a new bearing.
If you can get the P/N, NAPA may be able to cross-reference it to their's. Hal

It is made of graphite (looks like slate)
They are a pretty good bearing material, but do wear eventually. There may be a replacement Ball thrust bearing but I don't know the P/N or source.
