What are some of your methods to get concrete back to its original color? I know, dont spill on it in the first place. But what about after the fact with oil and antifreeze, grease, etc? Or does anyone even care what their shop floors look like?

Spread some dry laundry detergent or dish-washer detergent on it and let it set a few days - a little moisture may help. Then wash down with pressure washer...

Saw dust, kitty litter, and oil dry are my choices in that order to pick up oily mess, especially under the floor lift. Saw dust is the best, let it lay and it is amazing, sucks the oil and antifreeze right out of the floor.

But you asked about stains. I would never try to remove the character of the floor which shows there has been work going on. The patina of an old shop is like the finish on an old antique coin or knife which has had many thousands of hand prints. Why would you clean that? It would be like sweeping the slag out of the blacksmith shop.

I spray paint right on the floor too, and enjoy seeing the old jobs wear away through the years.

My shop is for work not show.

If you can find some liquid glycerine that's about the only thing that works. Just broom it on over the stain or the entire floor, let it work for about 10 minutes and hose it off. I will make the floor look like new.

For oil stains you can do no better than cat litter ground in with your shoe and allowed to sit for a couple of weeks. For that matter cat litter thrown on a fresh stain will soak up the vast majority. I have found that a 5 dollar sheet of 5/8 4'x8' sheet rock placed under a tractor while working on it or under one that leaks absorbs all stains. You can tilt it against a wall for later use, leave it lay in one place or simply throw it away for a very minimal cost.

If you can't pressure wash with hot water and degreaser try using oxyclean . I've seen it work but I've also seen it not work .

Scrub with mineral spirts and put down floor dry BUT DON"T DO THAT WHEN THE FURNACE IS ON you just may enlarge your shop . I could make some real big messes and i would use floor dry to get the most up that i could and when it got warm enough to put the fire out and open the doors i would take about a half gallon and pour it on the floor and use the shop broom and scrub a bit and cover with floor dry about and hour later sweep it up and the floor was spotless.

Haven't seen my shop floor in awhile, too much stuff got moved in for the winter. One shop I used to work in we found out that pouring solvent on the stain and then covering the solvent with floor dry was pretty effective, I have done this myself, it's not 100%, but it looks better than it did.
