I'm thinking it will be to tall unless I use a flatbed to mount my gooseneck ball. But anyway it's coming together slowly. I gotta grind feed this afternoon.

Stretch the frame and find a flatbed the reckers use with the winch. The things you haul then.

Howard, have you though about just setting a fifth wheel on the chassis? Then you could find a drop deck flatbed and you would be right up town. I think you will find that any insurance company will be much easier to deal with if you have a fifth wheel set-up. They do not seem to like gooseneck set-ups for some reason.

Looks real nice Howard. Someday when I have some more land I will have one. In Illinois they kill you on license plate fees for that sort of rig.

Not that I'm aware of. Lots of local farmers have sold their grain trucks and just pay to have a semi come in and haul. My brother in law has to pay the state $800 and some change for his plates every year. The recent govenor decided to double the rate. Heck, even the trailer fees are getting darn expensive. In Illinois the trailer fees are based on how many tons you and your hauler will carry. Dad was paying something just shy of $300 a year for plates. He reduced his rating to save himself about half.

Finally, a few people are realizing that you can buy one of those trucks for less than a newer pickup AND pull more, SAFELY!

Is that a sleeper on the back or something else? Looks like the M in the background needs a little work to be "field ready." :o)

I'm hoping to (someday) have my 51 L-120 set up to pull a flatbed trailer of stationary engines, and hopefully get the Ford F-6 truck to have a roll back or something similar to haul tractors. One fine day... good thing I'm only 25 and have plenty of time to get all these projects done!

yeah, it's a 60 inch sleeper off a Kenworth. And I think I just found an 8X9 flatbed. Gotta go look at it tomorrow. Yeah, there's another M right behind that one, and no, neither one will ever see a field agian. At least not in present form.

HEy . I just picked one of those up myself not too long along. Mine has a 360Dt 5speed with A/C 1990. it had a 22ft box on it sold the box and the truck is free. Can't bet that, now I am looking for bunk of some sort for it. I plan to put a hook lift style rig on the back with some different types of boxes to make it more versitile. A pickup box with a fifth wheel., small dump box for gravel and stuff and a small flatbed.Might make up some dump bins to hire out for demolitions.Going to put some hitches on the back to be able to haul a couple different trailers also. Much cheaper than a pickup truck and some good reliable horsepower. This is a winter project that is going to take all of it to get it ready. But the way the weather is here today I think I'm going to be behind.
