Rebuilding IH 300 U Clutch and TA Questions

I recently acquired a IH 300 Utility. I want to replace the clutch and repair the Torque Amplifier. I need some advice as to the best place to purchase parts...also how complicated is the TA to work on? I haven't purchased a Repair Manual yet...so any recommendations would be appreciated.

One more question...What is the gallons per minute of the hydraulic pump on the distributer side of the tractor?

Thanks for your help.

Hugh is right the rebuilt TA is the quickest easiest way to go, however…

I did rebuild my own on a 560 several years ago and it was a valuable learning experience. I got a rebuilt ramp and roller assembly (which was the problem with mine and in most TA’s) and rebuilt the whole thing myself. Not terribly complicated if you are mechanically inclined and have (or are willing to get) an understanding of planetary and sun gears in order to get it done. You will need a tech manual like IT or Blue Ribbon because the shafts and gears etc need to be in a specific way, and a clean working area and the proper tools and time.

Roland: I'd tend to go with a rebuilt TA unit, all assembled, and they will have warrenty. Clutch disc, release bearing and pilot not probably may as well be replaced considering the cost versus labor. Take a good hard look at that presure plate, besides the usual presure plate wear you also have the spline for the pto which can be badly worn.

On the hydraulic pumps standard was 9 gpm and optional was 12 gpm.

Thanks Hugh!
I really appreciate the help! I am just starting to work on this tractor. I know that I am going to need transmission seals as well as it is leaking. Tear apart comes next week.

Does the IH 300 have a 10.5" pressure plate?

I love this tractor! Motor is perfect. I like the down pressure of the three point.

Is there a website where I could go to get the specs? I would like to know the ground speed. Will the tractor go slow enough with the TA engaged to run a roto-tiller?
