Does your 460 have a fuel shutoff solenoid? If it does, try backing it out 1/4 to 1/2 turn. There is a jamnut on the threads to hold it in adjustment . If it has a regular load jet, try backing it out a small amount. This is quicker and easier than plugs/ points work. Might narrow down between fuel and electrical problems.

Well if you started with the carb then i am guessen that you had a problem before so like i said above Drain the tank and clean the tank and inlet of the sediment bowl then it is on to the tune up and also feel the coil and see if it is getting HOT if it is getting hot then replace it and don't use the resistor wires that are used on cars or pickup use Packard 440 wires with the copper wire.

Have you done anything to anything (like a carburetor kit) on the tractor just before it started this? If you did, that would be where I’d start looking. If not, as others have said, start with the points. While you are in there, check the rotor and the distributor cap. I’d put in a new condenser while you’re at it. After that it’s plugs and wires.

Allen is right. How long has it been since the points were replaced? That is where I would start.

Hi Neb,

A carburetor can't cause a single miss.

Go after the point setting, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and timing.

Allan
