I am having a rough decision on which color to paint my International Ai. I have seen some pictures of some sharp yellow. I like that because it stands out from the regular red. I also think it is hard to beat that awesome red. I am sure my tractor came from the factory red just because of the paint now;however it does have an orange layer under the red. Could that have been a primer, or could the tractor have been orange?

Thanks

I have a SA that was a state mowing tractor and it was yellow under the Red but its yellow again! I have been told that they did paint some of the county tractors orange.

I'd say that the yellow is the original color from the factory. We have a 340 that we bought at a county surplus auction, it was red when we got it, but underneath that ive found two coats of yellow, and one of golden yellow/orange. personally id go with the orange, to help it stand out among others.

The orange could very well be highway orange. I have an M that had been owned by a roads dept, and was all yellow when I got it. Under the yellow was orange, and under the orange it was red. To at least partially preserve the history of the M, I painted it IH red with hood, grill, and gas tank painted yellow.

I thought that tractor of your's looked nice with
the yellow & red. I painted a Farmall A all red except for the wheels that were yellow. This was 30 years ago and it looked good in the picture too. The tractor was in sad shape when I bought it. To see how prices have changed I only paid $80.00 for the sleeve kit from our local IH dealer. Hal
