I have 1952 H with an hour meter mounted under the gas tank near the starter. You have to read it from the right side of the tractor. I would have to say it is factory or at least installed by an International dealer because it is an IH gauge. I was wondering if anyone has seen one like it? I have heard they are fairly rare. Our problem is it won't work. Is there any place that works on them? Thanks, Craig

Did you test it? Maybe the switch or a wire is bad. I test mine by hooking up two wires from the battery posts to the two wires on the back of the meter. You can get a new switch from NAPA.

I have one that was re-branded by IHC and is listed in most of the '50s parts book. It has a large rubber vibration dampner. I found the meter new on the parts shelf of a local dealer. It is activated by a pressure switch from an engine oil gallery.

I seem to recall that it was made by Hobbs. I have only seen one other and it was in bad shape on a junked tractor.

I would call the Hobbs factory and request names for repair shops or dealers. You could also look in the repair listings of Hemmings Motor News. I am sure that both have websites.

If I recall mine is also a Hobbs but it doesn't have the vibration washer or is activated by the engine oil gallery. We think mine runs of the generator. I tried testing on a six volt battery charger for a while and it didn't run. I guess I don't understand what you guys mean by a switch.
