I have a 450D that the tach is missing. I also have a new tach on the shelf that fits a 340 thru 450. No where do I find anything that tells me if there is a difference in tach's for a gas or diesel. Can you help????? ????? ????? ?????

The tach drive is (more or less) the same as a speedometer I would look into a direction reversing gear set that fits the threads. Spedometer people do this for a living, and they are not expensive. A good transmission (gear tranny, not automatics) may also locate one for you.
Justmy two cents.

Randy is right. The diesel tachs have a face that is a mirror image of the gas tacks. Other differences in IH (Stewart Warner) tacks, whether gas or diesel, include total RPM numbers and location of 540 PTO designation on the panel face.
