I picked up a Super M a few months ago and had some time this last weekend. The tractor runs real good, yet it surges once and while. I have not had a chace to really work it, but there is a hill on my raod it it shoots right up that and the surging goes away, in fact when ever there is any type of "reall" load. Yet when I pull in the drive and put it in 1st at half throttle it no hill, flat ground it surges. the carb is rebuilt. I pulled the govenor cover off and the four weights were in there not broken off. The spring was not broke either.

You said four weights well that a M and W govener and they resppond to load real fast but there may be to much slop between the spring and the arms and this will not make things wright.

The reason many things were done years ago is a total lack of funds, and not the lack of funds like most of the folks in the USA call hard times. Another reason is because they had good sales men in those days also, not always for the best intrest in the buying party. Dave NE IA

Sounds like you need to adjust the carb some. Probably running to rich, turn the main jet, bottom screw on the carb in a 1/2 turn or so may 1 full turn. You will have to adjust it till it stops surging but still has the power it should
