Bob, I was curious if you've heard anything from Ebay or from the seller about the piracy of your diagrams?

Bob,

I use your diagrams on every one of my tractors. I appreciate your time and effort put into these to help us out.

Someone had the sellers email address?? Post it and we all should sign the guy up for every XXX, viagra, home refinance, credit card application spam we can. Let them flood him with junk email. It is the least we can do to show Bob M a little support.

I heard nothing back from Deere today. I hope they check it out and do or say something. This guy is a crook.

It is really great of you to take the time to put those together and provide them on here for people like me. I am really sorry that someone is taking advantage of your work and mostly your generosity.

Jay - Have heard nothing yet. Ebay security indicated action (if any) would require 24 - 48 hours. And not surprisingly the dumba$$ seller is not responding.

Thanks Jay - and all the others - for your support and encouragement! In the big scheme of things it's not a big deal - however it is still kinda maddening. ...Bob M

Bob: Your diagrams have been very helpful to myself, and the testimonials would suggest thousands of folks have benefited. I must admit I was using a system very close to your diagrams before I ever saw your drawings. I now use a blend of both. There are several systems that all work well. You and I discussed this briefly last summer, how your imediate family and acquaintences left this alternator question for you to figure out. I would suggest probably numerous folks across North America have come up with the exact system as yours, and have never seen your drawings.

That being said, your diagrams and drawings have been a tremendous help to many folks, especially the novice tractor restorer. The fact you have been so free with your drawings, I doubt any action can or will be taken against this seller. My suggestion to your many supporters is get on Ebay and destroy this guys sales. Many of these YT participants are already registered on Ebay. I say get on Ebay and give him the old one, two. I don't have the computer smarts for this, but am quite certain we have folks capable of this at YT. So guys LET HIM HAVE IT WITH BOTH BARRELS, we can't tolerate someone taking advantage of a good member of the YT flock.

I can only say what the others have, Bob. Your diagrams have been lifesavers to me on both the cub and the H.
Thanks. Kevin

Bob it's maddening to the rest of us; it has to be WORSE than maddening to you!

Your diagrams are the best available, and I have used them several times. Thank you for sharing them with us!

Bob, I'm sure you spent considerable time and resources in compiling and publishing that great resource that has helped both Farmall and other tractor lovers. I was just wondering if you ever applied for or were granted any formal Copyright protection ?? Even if a person does nothing else, he might consider to at least stake a claim on his ownership of materials by placing his name and the (C) emblem on its face. Such might provide at least "constructive notice" to onlookers the material is protected, but its been tooooo o long since I studied Patent Law. (i.e. No Warranty on that info lol) It was after I retired from engineering I attended law school, but its still been a long time and thats NOT my area of practice. Regardless, if you establish you first developed and published some types of intellectual property and another simply copied it for sale and his own gain, a cause of action might still be available. Once, however, material becomes a part of the Public Domain no further protection exists which is why large companies so fiercely protect their names, trademarks and intellectual property. Look at things like Xerox, Kleenex, Band Aid, Aspirin, Styrofoam and how Band Aid now refers to their product as Band Aid Brand of Bandages etc.

Sorry again I was late on your Generator problem down a page or so, let us know about it and if e bay does anything, which I seriously doubt.

Bob, not to sound discouraging, but copyright infringement has been running rampant on ebay for years and ebay does nothing about it... I know of one seller that's been reported time after time after time, yet ebay has done nothing.

I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you diagrams as well- I keep the address in my bookmarks. It"s nice to double check the things I can"t always remember regarding wiring. It also irks me when someone is trying to sell and make $ off of someone else"s work. Like you said, it"s not a real big deal, but it"s also not right, not honorable. I don"t know how else to put it. Anyway, thanks again for you help to us.
Paul

It's the principle of it Bob. I may have over stepped my bounds a bit, but this morning I saw that he had people bidding on 2 others. I sent a message to both of them and told them of the situation. I then provided a link to your diagrams and asked that they come here and post a thank you if they used them.

If you get no satisfaction from either Ebay or the seller, I will be more than happy to host an Ebay auction that will simply point to your diagrams in the description. Thus effectively keeping the seller from making any money on his items. All you have to do is say the word :)

PS - I rewired a couple of tractors with your diagrams. It was info I couldn't find anywhere else. I thank you much.

Jay

Thanks for your support Jay! And if you feel like hosting an Ebay auction that points to my online (free) diagrams I have NO problem with your doing so.

However please don't risk stirring up trouble for yourself if you elect to do this. This whole auction thing - while unethical and just plain annoying - simply isn't worth going in too deep in order to shut down. (Which incidentally is probably what the clown that stole my diagrams figured on in the first place) ...Bob M

Jay, sounds like you already did what I was thinking of doing, thank you. Bob Ms diagrams have bailed me out a couple of times also, much easier to use than even the original diagrams in the shop manuals.
