My desire is to remove this arm or lever as there appears to be excessice play or "slop" inthe arm (all side to side slop) The bearing appears to be the culprit. How is that arm and bearing ass'y retained to that shaft? I would like to remove it and replace the bearing. The shift lever for the gears is easy, but I am cofused on this inner range arm. Thanks for anyone who responds.

Tractor Vet: Thank you for the response. Yes, it is the levers on the right side of the steering tower. I understand how to get the cover off (remove long screw and bolt). Then, remove the cross bolt holding the outer arm (gear lever), and remove outer arm. Now this is where I'm stumped. Is the inner arm or range lever pressed on to that shaft. You talk about a bushing that was bad, and a bushing bore that you had to re-machine for a new bushing. Is that arm supposed to slide off the shaft or is it retained in some other manner?

The range shifter is just slipped on the post and that is part of the steering support The bushing goes into the lever . I have fixed a bunch of them it's not rocket sicence and on the 06-66 a littel slop can mean no shifting or not getting all the gears you have to look for any excess movement and get rid of it and if a 06-66 is not shifting easy then most likely it is because the clutch the trans brake and the dump valve are not set correctly.and this leads to tuggen on the shifter and adds to the ware and looseness .

If you are talking about the Gearshift levers on the right hand side of the steering support it is not hard to do just remove the cover that has the 1-4 Hi low N Rev off there is a couple bolts and a long screw remove the 1-4 lever and unhook the linkage and it comes wright off , there is a bushing inside of the lever now i have found that on some of then that the steering support is woren and they are bad enough that the factor bushing does not help much and have had to have a bushing made to fit. And on one that i had it was real bad and had to take the steering support off and have it machined to make it round again.
