My H gas tank seems to leak under the tank at one of the front mounting bolts with the spring around it. Is this a common problem, and how hard is it to fix?

Thanks in advance

We must be over run with old Hs around here, but I would not fool with a leaky gas tank, other than trying some JB Weld (although the POR stuff comes highly recommended). No sense setting the shed on fire to save a few bucks. Just find a good used gas tank.

Since you can't see the hole and needn't worry about cosmetics. I wouldn't hazard puting heat to the tank. Order the tank seal kit from POR-15, follow the directions, seal the tank and you'll never be bothered by the leak again.

I agree with El Toro We fixed many tanks at the weld shop. After tank was dry we would blow air thru the tank for 2 or 3 hrs. before we would weld on it.

I think you would be better off to pull the gas tank and have your local radiator shop to repair it. Our local radiator shop blows air through
the tank to get rid of the fumes. You could call them to see if they do gas tanks. Hal
PS: I have soldered them with a big soldering iron that I borrowed from work. Don't use a torch.
