656 Hydraulic problem

I have a 656 Gas Gear Drive Tractor. It has draft control. I was using a subsoiler with it, and when I came to the end of the field, I raised the implement and was turning at the same time. All at once, I lost the power steering and the hitch lift.
Any ideas as to the cause of the problem or how to determine the cause or what to look for?

Thanks everyone for your help! I have a few more questions that hopefully you can help me with. First, let me tell you what I have done so far. I have removed the hydraulic pumps (the plate on the left side of the tractor) and the pump gear rotates freely. I can reach in the cavity and rotate the drive gear for the pump. Should I be able to do this?
Unfortunately, I did not try the PTO before I drained the hydraulic fluid and removed the pump. Is it worthwhile now to put everything back together and see if the PTO works? Also, if the key is sheared, how big of a job is to replace that? It looks to be difficult to get to the pump drive gear.
Finally, I have a service manual for the tractor, but it does not shed much light on the drive system for the hydraulic pump. Also, it says there are three pumps -- 2 located in the pump housing and 1 located in the IPTO housing. Is this true and where exactly is this third pump?

Thanks,

Don

Don,

That third pump in back inside the PTO unit. It is independant of the other systems and drives from the rear end of the shaft that has the loose gear.

No, that drive gear should not turn and you've just found your problem.

Thanks for the advice!
OK, what do I do now?
All I can see is the drive gear. How do I get to the shaft?

Thanks,

Don

Don,

If it happened all at once and with both systems, it's gotta be like Vet says. Something upstream and mechanical. Like he says, see if ya have PTO first; that will tell you were the problem lies.

No noise at all? Just quit all of a sudden? I'm bettin' on the sheared key.

Might of sheared the key in the hydraulic pump on the left side on the clutch houseing behind the plate with some hydrauilic lines comeing out of it.Or maybe stuck a pressure relief valve open.

I would have to say that on that one that there is a good chance that the PTO drive has striped out of the pressure plate , but do you still have PTO ?? if that is still working then i am wrong on that Or it could have just sheared a Key on the pump drive gear.
