Took apart the wobbly distributor today. I believe this has been modified. The housing and tube that the weights and shaft are in has a removable brass bushing that wore. Bushing is about 2" long .625 OD x .485 ID and does not show up in parts fish. So am going to make a new bushing to try to tighten it up. New dist. is over $250 unless someone knows of a cheaper one. Shaft is not wore it measures the same from end to end. My local mechanic has never seen the bushing before either.

Checked new dist. shaft with micrometer, measured
.490 , .485 ID bushing would be to small for it.

They used the bushing, don't know if IH ever sold it without housing.Think the bushings were sized to around .491 so if you'rs is .485 you should be
good.Where the cam goes on to dist. shaft is any play there? Have some parts I could measure tomorrow and make sure on sizes if you need anymore help.

Bronze Oilite material (sintered bronze with lube spaces between particles) is best.
.0005-.001 max shaft clearance.
Great idea to do it yourself.
It will work fine. The pivot connection for the cent. advance in the shaft should be cleaned and lubed with moly grease, as should the inside of the shaft housing.
