756 Farmall carb problem?

I have a gas 756 Farmall which runs great if the choke is pulled out, but dies as soon as it is pushed in. Could the auto fuel shutoff solenoid on the carb be giving me trouble? It seems to start ok cold, but after it"s warm, the choke needs to be pulled out. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Loren

Thanks guys. I checked the solenoid with an ohm meter, no resistance -changed the solenoid -tractor runs great now!

Also make sure to check your intake manifold gasket. Its common for these to leak and if it is you have to have the choke out so it gets enough fuel to run.

If that carburetor has a main jet adjusting screw
near the bottom of the carburetor, you need to open it several turns. Hal

The fact that it runs indicates that the fuel shutoff being shut is not the primary issue. I believe there is a particle of dirt/crud in the main jet. Take out the Shutoff valve and you (if I remember) also remove the main jet. It may be partially plugged. If no better, pull the bowl off and clean things, squirt carb spray through jets, and look for junk in the bottom of the bowl. It may take a new gasket if the old one gets ripped on removal of bowl.

Otherwise it is time for a rebuild, but my guess is this will make it new.
