Hi folks! I need ideas on fitting a water temp indicator for my 53 super A. The C-113 engine has been re-built and a water pump was added. This means the bottom inlet elbow where the SA temp probe fits (for thermo siphon system) will not work for my set up. I thought about using a Super C outlet elbow but this does not work for 2 reasons: 1) the pipe dia for the radiator hose is bigger and 2) the elbow is designed for the taller SC radiator. I also thought about using the drain plug to "plumb in" the temp sensor but dia here is to small and there is not enough material to machine a custom bushing. Has anyone solved this problem before? Are there other points on the block where a temp probe could be attached? What about modifying the radiator tank to accept a fitting? Any ideas and all comments welcomed! Happy New Year!

You really don't need a water temp indicator. Everyone who has one will tell you it never overheats, so what is the point?

Are you sure that the top elbow is longer than the one for the SA. I put a hose on the outlet of the radiator to make it the same size as the elbow then put the hose over other hose.

Normally, the water temperature probe is in the water jacket in the head of the engine.
