The m I have keeps shorting out the 2 plugs in the center. I have overhauled the moter so all that is new.I put a new cam and lifters, new manifold, had the head redone and magnflux for cracks, put a perlux pointless ing system, changed over to 12 volts, new wires cap roter. The compression is 186 psi in all.The tractor was propane at first but I changed back to gas.Is there different m heads the propane one was bad so I put a different one on.Also the pistions I took out were slight dome type but the ones I put in were flat top?The tractor ss# FBK 14094.
Thank you Mark Geiger

"Shorting out" is not a term normally associated with spark plugs.

Can you please try to explain what you mean? Describe what is happening with as much detail as you can.

Is the tractor not firing on those two plugs?

I have D23 plugs in all holes they will run fine for a day then it starts to run ruff and when I take the plugs out of the center 2 and test them on a plug tester no spark comes out on the electrode. Then the 2 center hole have just raw gas in them. The 2 center plugs are black and soote looking.

Are those Champion plugs? If so, the first thing I"d do is get something else. For some reason Champion plugs are many times bad right out of the box. If you don"t believe me, just post something about them and watch the response you get!
A good test would be to move those two center plugs to the outside positions and then see if the problem follows the plugs or stays with the cylinders. If the latter, then it must be in the wires. Same test could work there.
I don"t remember, did you do points/plugs/cap/rotor/wires?
My guess is the plugs themselves though.

Make sure you know for sure which way the distributor rotates. If you"re thinking it rotates the "other" way and hook up the wires accordingly, it will fire on 1 and 4, but not 2 and 3.
Firing order 1-3-4-2

I'm guessing here but when you say shorting out the plugs do you mean they are fouling out?? If so you may have the 2 out of order as far as fireing I'd try swithcing them and see what happens.

Hey Old, I would rather switch than fight...lol

switch You might like it....:>)

Happy New Year!!!!

I'm like you Old, not sure what is wrong, fouling, shorting, or whatever. If they are fouling he could also have bad plugs, wires or even cracked dist. cap. Many options to choose from....

Or, even a head gasket blown between the 2 center cylinders.

Yep can be hard to help if people don't use the correct terms when they are talking about engines. Sort of becomes a guessing game and I have never benn very good at them LOL
