hi everyone and happy new year! i was wondering this morning if my 706 with d282 would run on bio diesel, or would a blend of bio and regular diesel be what i would need. i was also wondering does anyone know if diesel fuel will change when the tier 7 emmision regs come out in another year? I have heard the biodiesel in a newwer engine works the same, just smells different than regular fuel. would bio diesel start any harder with the glow plugs? thanks
nate

I am running bio diesel and have had no problems yet. We had temps down to zero a couple of weeks ago and had no problems. I just plugged in the block heater as usual. The local co-op does winter blend as they sell it through their local station which sells to over the road trucks as well as the local ambulance and fire trucks. It is true it will gel sooner than regular diesel if it isn't winter blended. I can't tell the difference except they color it green.

The problem is, there are all sorts of wives' tales out there regarding biodiesel: It's no good for your engine... It's better for your engine than regular diesel... You need to make all sorts of changes to your injector pump and injectors... You don't need to make any changes to the engine...

What are you supposed to believe?

Bio- diesel will work just fine, but tends to gel faster than regular no 2 in cold weather.
