Hi everybody,
I have a 3514 loader, backhoe,I purchased it a few months ago, with a blown head gasket, sitting in the weeds for about four years I replaced the gasket, did the valves, and everything seems fine exept that the cooling flow seems to be backwards
the bottom hose gets hot after about 5 minutes
and the top stays cold,if I try to try to run it a while it overheats because as soon as the thermostat opens a little the cold coolant from the radaitor closes it again I get decent flow through the system if I block the air flow.if I block the air flow the bottom hose is cooler
yhan if I don't.Is it ossible that the impeller is facing the wrong way on the water pump? if it is a disk type and the blades face the engine would that reverse the flow? In a couple of months, when is's warm, I'll take it apart and investigate. also I would like to know if anyone can send me some pictures of a 3514 as I am trying to restore it.
Thanks,
Scott

The first thing that comes to mind - could the thermostat be installed backwards? Happened to me on a 345 V8. Too much talking & too little paying attention. Worth a look.

I am sure that it is in the right way,and it wouldn't change the direction of flow in the cooling system.
Thanks,
Scott
