Changed oil in transmission/rearend of my M. When oil drain stream stopped I dug out some sludge and found a ball bearing approximately 3/8th inch in the drain hole. The ball had a moon shaped gouge. What part of the transmission rearend would this be from? Could it be left behind on a previous repair job? Plowed with it after the oil change and no problems. I have owned this tractor for a couple years. Comments?

It might be a shift rail detent ball that got away from someone during shifter repair. (others may have size info on that issue). IF a ball gets out of a race, there is usually mass destruction (and noise).
