Hi All,

I need new front tires on my IH706. I have 18.4/34 and 7.50/20 narrow fronts.

I want that ballon tire look on the fronts but want to keep the tractor fairly level, so what size front tire and wheel will give me that look without hitting the spidle arm?

Suggestions for where to buy them? AZ here.

If your going to be buying new rims anyway I think I would go with a set of 10.00x16.5 skid steer tires. They will have plenty of load carrying capacity and will provide more flotation in soft conditions since they will be more likely to keep rolling instead of pushing like regular ribbed tires.

Hi Cliff,

I've been looking at tires till I'm cross eyed. I think I'm going with Friestone 11.00/16 4 rib. Looks like it'll do what I want.

T_Bone you mention putting Tires from your Tractor on a trailer. I would ask you (you probably know) to look at the tire ratings on the sidewall to be sure it is Highway rated by DOT. Or of course it could be a farm trailer W/O road applications.
Just being safe,

Hi TV,

Well I screwed up, I have 8.25/20 fronts on there now and I'm putting those on my 7:50/20 trailer. I don't think that makes a difference for the tractor sitting close to level?

Mine measure 36"OD X 8.5" wide mounted. This sits fairly level with 18.4 x 34. And I will have FIL. With the FIL will the 10:00/15 or the 10:00/16 have enough weight carrying capicity?

Anyway looking at my IH parts CD they list a 10:00/16 tire, 11:00/16 tire with WH8L-16 and WH10L-16 wheels both 8 lug as I have. But the notation says for adj wide front. I have the heavy IH solid front axle.

From looking at the pics, I can't see a whole lot of difference to a clearence issue from the solid front to the adj. front axle. Your thoughts?

Also do the wheels have to be off set or will standard center fit?
