Does anyone have an assembly picture of an E-12 carborator, can't figure out where this "ball" goes that is the size of a BB.

Just a late addition to this thread, that little ball can be a bearcat, and I'm not saying that the ball doesn't need to be there, but if it is gone you most likely will never know the difference. The reason that you didn't see where the ball came from is because it most likely wore down and fell out many years ago, and no one knew it was gone.

I think everyone goes through this the first time they rebuild an H or an M carb - yours may be the same. That spring and ball behind the choke lever pops out during disassembly and it"s a little tough to discover where it came from.

I want to thank everyone for their helpful comments! I was 2 days looking on the internet for some information about that ball and I found exactly...nothing. So, I bought the manual that was $30.00 and it didn't show or tell about it either, I felt ripped off. Thanks again for all your comments.

Patrick, don't know if this will help or not. My H parts catalog only shows what is called a D-10 carborator. It does show a ball which is used as a friction device in conjunction with the choke lever on the back of the carb. It shows a pin, spring and the small ball going in a hole just forward of the choke shaft hole. Actually, the catalog lists the choke as a starting shutter. The function of the ball would be to hold pressure on the choke shaft plate to maintain a choke setting until moved by the operator. Assembly sequence would be to insert the pin first, next the spring and then the ball which is held in position by the side load of the choke plate on the end of the choke shaft. Hope this helps. Hal

There is a spring and ball behind the choke lever that keeps tension on the lever.
