F30, how much power will it handle?

I just read below where "it is well known that an M final won"t handle even a 506 engine". I have an F30 that I was wondering what it would safely handle. Years ago I read where some of the first pullers were F30"s with V12 Allison aircraft engines in them. Of course handling it for 300 feet is not the same as 8 hours in the field pulling a 20 bottom plow but ??? Anybody have any ideas? I have a 36HP VW engine in it now but it"s about shot.

I have a old puller friend, he said they put two 427 chevy's in the F-30's.

Because the flavor already has international (blending from Europe) content why not go with a nice little engine with 5 main bearings and a ripped off chrysler HEMI design. The 1800 CC Toyota 3TC engine is wonderful, tidy, and stone reliable. With a short 5 speed transmission from a Corolla (Early 80s) it will make 75 horse power at ~4000 and 125 (stock) @ 6000.
With an electronic govenor (read cruse control) it would be sweet. With a Five speed it would have 20 options forward and a bunch in reverse.
I think it would be good looking as well.

I was thinking more in line with a Chevy 454 or whatever they call the big block.

Do it.
454 inch Chevies should be (relitively) inexpensive.
Cubic horse power is always fun. My thinking (small efficient engine turning rapidly) was personal preference. Unless there are massive weights on the beast, bigfoot tires, and/or duals or other traction enhancing factors the rear end forces will probably be limited by traction. I've seen Massey 55 differentials being twisted by 3000 horse power from gas turbine engines with no issues. I would use a high pressure hypoid rated synthetic lubricant.
If it will be just a conversation piece pulling hay rides etc. then it is a non-issue.
The other end of the curve was a 10 HP Briggs driving the PTO shaft on a JD G (the engine had been replaced by a barbecue grill)
