One of our threads on here a while back was what is your favourite sound and some thought they liked the sounds of certain tractors and Jimont said it was being in the barn on Christmas and snow falling outside...that struck a chord with me, there is nothing more peaceful and endearing that the sounds in the barn, cattle munching quietly, straw rustling under them, sounds of a calf sucking, cats curled up on top of a bale of straw, and I am not a religous fanatic but animals and barns and mangers..the cattle get a few extra bales and some extra corn, the cats get an extra can of catfood, and the cows all get a few apples that I stored away, and when I turn the lights off to leave you can't help thinking of being a Christian and knowing that it is Christmas, even if you're not a Christian you feel the rhythm of life. You really have to experience it and when Jimont posted that I couldn't think of one sound that was better than Christmas in the barn with snow falling down...Merry Christmas everyone...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Mike, I remember that thread,and I remember his post very well.When I came to his, I stopped,closed my eyes and took a trip back in time to good Christmas memories.There was something kind of magical in those barns on Christmas eve.Thanks for bringing this up.

I guess that living in a dry country gives one a different perspective. My favoite sound is rain dripping off the roof. And I'm thankful for it!

There is a great feeling of contentment, peace, and renewal that I sense around the farm at Christmas time each year. It is ironic that at this cold, frozen, dark time of the year, so much life, warmth, and hope is there for anyone to see. AS farmers, full or part time, we are stewards of much of God's creation. I am honored to partner with Mother Nature and hope to continue to experience all the wonderful things She has to offer. Merry Christmas to all!

I couldn"t have said it better myself.
There is a special peace that you experience when you are tending the animals on Christmas;
I wish I were able to do it again. Living in town without a barn or animals limits that experience for now; so memories will live on forever in my heart.
Peace on Earth--Amen.
